Professional and Career Development Loans
This website is aimed at providing key messages on Professional and Career Development Loans for individuals who provide impartial information, advice and guidance to potential learners, such as University or college careers advisers, Jobcentre Plus advisers, Next Step advisers and Union Learning representatives.
Learning providers accessing this site must not use any of the information within it as an inducement to encourage learners to enrol on their courses. Learning providers must act responsibly in helping individuals chose learning and support that is relevant to their needs and abilities.
A Professional and Career Development Loan is a bank loan individuals can use to help pay for work related learning. Learners can borrow from £300 to £10,000 from a participating bank to help pay for their course.
Like any commercial loan product, learners must repay the money they borrow but, with a Professional and Career Development Loan, the Government will pay the interest on the loan while the learner is in learning and for one month afterwards. The individual will then start to make repayments as they would any other commercial loan.
Learners should visit www.direct.gov.uk/pcdl for more information or call 0800 100 900 to order an application pack.
